Buenos Aires, April 13 (NA) – A 7-year-old girl is hospitalized after being attacked by a group of 11-year-old girls at the Casita de los Niños Padre Carlos Caja home in the city of La Plata, and authorities are investigating the institution's staff. Sources close to the case informed the Argentine News Agency that the incident occurred last Thursday at the premises located at 6 bis and 602, in the Aeropuerto neighborhood. According to the reconstruction of the events, the attackers ambushed the victim in the bathroom, threw her to the floor, and kicked her in the head, back, and ribs. In this context, the girl was urgently transferred to the Children's Hospital of La Plata, where she remains hospitalized under observation. This Monday, the mother of the victim, Ximena Espíndola, gave her testimony, providing a detailed chronology of what happened and reporting serious irregularities by the home's staff. According to her account, the girl arrived at the establishment at 8:30 AM and was picked up by her partner around 12:45 PM. "There was a delay in reporting the incident and the proper procedures were not followed," stated the lawyer, who announced he will go "to the very end" to ensure justice. It has also emerged that the aggressors have been identified. The case is now in the hands of La Plata's No. 7 Prosecutor's Office, led by prosecutor Virginia Bravo. The mother stated that she learned of the attack several hours later when her daughter was already showing severe symptoms. Along these lines, the lawyer representing the family, Ignacio Barrio, harshly criticized the institution and assured there was an attempted cover-up. "The home's attitude was serious. After the episode, the educators assisted her, changed her clothes, and combed her hair, but they did not inform the family of what had happened at the time. Due to the worsening of her condition, the mother decided to take her to the Children's Hospital of La Plata around 6:00 PM, where doctors directly admitted her to the intensive care unit, where she stayed for two days due to the severity of her injuries. Currently, the girl is in intermediate therapy, out of danger but with a reserved diagnosis; she is lucid, under constant observation, and awaiting tests to rule out internal injuries. One of the most sensitive points to emerge in the investigation is the delay by the home in reporting the incident.
