Buenos Aires, November 20 (NA) -- A young man between 20 and 30 years old died this morning after being run over by a truck at kilometer 54.5 of Route 2.

The incident, which occurred on the eve of a long weekend, is being investigated as negligent homicide.

According to police sources informed to the Argentine News Agency, the event occurred under causes that are still being established when a Mercedes Benz Axor 1933S truck (license plate ITM-946) driven by 66-year-old José María Druetta, from Mar del Plata, hit a pedestrian who was walking in the area.

The victim, yet to be identified, was described as a man of tan complexion, wearing a fuchsia hoodie, gray jeans, and a gray t-shirt.

Sources in the case indicated that he had no identification among his belongings.

Ambulance N°46 from AUBASA arrived at the scene, and the doctor in charge confirmed the death at the scene.

The on-duty prosecutor's office, UFI N°12 of La Plata, in charge of Fernando Padovan, ordered a series of expert tests, including an alcohol test on the truck driver, the review of security cameras in the area, and the intervention of the Scientific Police to deepen the investigation.

Likewise, officers from the 7th Police Station of Abasto are working to identify the young man who was run over.

Traffic remained partially restricted while the judicial and expert procedures were carried out.
