Today in the Buenos Aires city of La Plata, a 31-year-old man attacked his ex-girlfriend, a 16-year-old girl, with a knife and killed the young woman's stepfather with a stab wound to the chest in a house in the town of Villa Elisa. The victim was identified as Marcial Araujo, 50 years old.
According to police sources, the attacker, identified as Leonardo Matías Palomeque, broke into the house through a window and attacked his ex-girlfriend, with whom he argued, causing her a wound in her left leg. In response to the situation, Marcial Araujo intervened to defend the minor, but the attacker dealt him a fatal stab wound to the chest. After the attack, the assailant fled.
Upon arrival of the Emergency Medical Care Service (SAME), they confirmed the death of Marcial Araujo, while the teenager suffered minor injuries. The scene was preserved for the necessary forensic work, with the presence of the Scientific Police, and a search was initiated to capture the murderer.
The case is being investigated by prosecutor Juan Menucci, head of Prosecutor's Office 5 of La Plata, while officers from the 12th Police Station of Villa Elisa and DDI La Plata are working together in the search and capture of Leonardo Matías Palomeque.
