A police commissioner from the City avoided being robbed by two motorcycle thieves this Wednesday while she was with her family at the door of her house in Isidro Casanova, Buenos Aires. The 45-year-old woman was about to go to school with her son when the criminals appeared on two motorcycles.
The officer, who works in the Operational Coordination Alarm Department of the Superintendency of Operations of the city's police force, kept her composure upon seeing the assailants and continued to observe them. When they attempted to steal her car, the commissioner took cover behind the vehicle and opened fire with her service pistol upon realizing that the thieves were also armed.
During the exchange of gunfire, one of the bullets struck near the commissioner and her son, who was unharmed but scared by the incident. The motorcycle thieves, failing to achieve their goal, fled the scene shooting in the direction of the officer and her family.
The assailants managed to escape and it is unknown whether any were injured, while the commissioner and her son came out unscathed. For its part, the city government had recently reported that several agents of the City Police have faced gunfire from criminals in the Greater Buenos Aires area, with unfortunate consequences such as the murder of Officer Brian Coria.
So far this year, numerous armed confrontations have been recorded, with a significant increase compared to previous periods. The majority of attacks have occurred in the province of Buenos Aires, where the deaths of 14 police officers on duty have been reported. Additionally, it is highlighted that a high percentage of the criminals arrested in the area are residents of that district.
