The Mendoza Police have dismantled a criminal gang in Godoy Cruz dedicated to assaulting drivers of urban travel platforms such as Uber, Cabify, and traditional taxis. As part of the operation, raids were carried out at several locations in the area, resulting in the arrest of two suspects linked to the criminal group.
During the raids, mobile phones, wallets, and other items that could belong to the victims of the robberies were seized. The investigation, led by the Division of Economic and Common Crimes of the General Directorate of Investigations, was initiated after numerous reports from drivers who had been assaulted by armed passengers threatening them to steal money and even their vehicles.
After two months of work, which included surveillance tasks, interviews with victims, and analysis of evidence, the Police managed to identify the alleged perpetrators of these criminal acts. Currently, investigations continue to identify other possible members of the criminal organization, who used to escape to different neighborhoods in the area after committing the robberies.
