
As part of the Localized Citizen Security Program, the Ministry of Security and Justice of Mendoza and the Municipality of General Alvear signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen local security through the integration of resources and technology. The event was attended by Governor Alfredo Cornejo, Vice Governor Hebe Casado, Minister of Security and Justice Mercedes Rus, and the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Andrés Lombardi.
Rus emphasized the importance of connecting security cameras to 911 through the joint monitoring center that will be implemented. This system will allow for more effective and rapid approaches, contributing to crime prevention and the capture of criminals. The official highlighted the progress made in reducing violent crimes, such as homicides and aggravated robberies with firearms, and emphasized the investment in security improvements in the General Alvear department.
Regarding preventive security, security cameras have been installed in rural areas and cattle trails, and a bidding process has been called to acquire motorcycles. The Municipality has equipped proactive officers with technology and personal cameras to continue strengthening security in the region. Progress has also been made in integrating community alarms to 911 for a quicker response to emergencies.
Governor Cornejo stressed the need to continue investing in technology and measures to disincentivize the buying and selling of stolen goods, aiming to combat the impunity generated by the black market. He highlighted the commitment of municipalities to work together with the Province to improve security and praised the efforts of General Alvear in this process.
After the signing of the agreements, the importance of a systematic and sustained plan regarding security was highlighted, focused on crime prevention and reducing impunity. Cornejo underscored the security policy implemented in Mendoza, based on judicial changes, technology, and updated police training. Rus described the event as an important milestone and assured improvements in the provision of security services for the residents of General Alvear.
