User Who Threatened Argentine Politician Arrested

Buenos Aires, March 18 (NA) – A social media user who threatened legislator Waldo Wolff and his family through Instagram was arrested in the Buenos Aires locality of Florencio Varela following intense analysis. The investigation was carried out by detectives from the City Police's Special Technological Investigations Division, which took action after the legislator filed a complaint on March 6 for threats against him and his family via the social network Instagram. Police sources confirmed to the Argentine News Agency that cybercrime specialists, using techniques to preserve records and profiles, managed to identify the person behind the account from which the threats were made. With the data obtained, the Penal, Contravention and Misdemeanor Prosecutor's Office, led by Miguel Kessler, requested to deepen the investigation into the IP addresses, which would make it possible to obtain information from which device the intimidations came. One of those addresses coincided in two techniques used, so the prosecutor's office requested a search warrant for a home in Florencio Varela, which was approved by the Penal, Contravention and Misdemeanor Court 12, of Juan Neumann, with the intervention of Guarantees Court 8 of the Quilmes Judicial Department. During the search of the house, the main suspect, a 29-year-old man, was found and notified by the judiciary to appear for a statement. Officers also seized three cell phones at the residence, which will be examined.
