During a raid carried out by officials from the Internal Affairs Delegation of the Buenos Aires Police at the Third Police Station in Florencio Varela, a prisoner identified as Marcos Rosseti was discovered drinking mate in the office instead of being in a cell as he should have been. Rosseti had been accused of trigger-happy behavior for shooting at Ruth Cabral, a 31-year-old woman, during an incident related to a neighborhood dispute.
This situation was revealed as part of an investigation for "breach of public official duties" conducted by the Prosecutor's Office No. 2 of Florencio Varela. Although Rosseti was detained at the same police station, it was confirmed that he had not been held in a cell as expected. The discovery was made following an anonymous complaint, prompting the authorities to inspect the facility and verify that the detainee was sharing mate with the police chief, suggesting a possible case of collusion and privilege.
After this incident, Rosseti was transferred to the Florencio Varela Detention Center on February 1st. Meanwhile, the Prosecutor's Office continues to investigate to determine who was responsible for allowing this situation and what sanctions could be applied to those involved. These events have put the Buenos Aires Police under scrutiny, as suspicions of possible internal cover-up arise.
