A young man died and two others are still missing after a boat, carrying four people who went fishing on the Paraná River in Corrientes, capsized. The tragic incident occurred last Saturday, March 8, when four young men set sail to fish from the town of Esquina in Corrientes.
During the journey, the boat overturned, throwing all its occupants into the river. One of the young men managed to swim to the shore and call for help, triggering an urgent search operation as the other three could not be located. Authorities confirmed on Sunday the recovery of the body of Alejandro Vega, although the other two young men are still missing.
In light of this situation, it was reported on Monday that search efforts by air, land, and water remain active with the help of two boats and drones. The search operations include personnel from the Special Unit of Rural and Ecological Security of Esquina and Goya, Argentine Naval Prefecture, Civil Defense, Volunteer Firefighters, Flora and Fauna, as well as civilian volunteers.
The two young men still to be found have been identified as Nicolás Álvarez and Nahuel Alegre. Uncertainty and concern persist in the area as efforts continue to locate the missing persons and clarify the circumstances that led to the tragic accident.
