A Brazilian citizen was detained in the province of Misiones for transporting over nine tons of drugs in a truck, which had an active seizure order for robbery in the Morón locality, Buenos Aires Province.

Personnel from the National Gendarmerie's 10th Squadron “Eldorado”, along with other units, have seized in recent hours over nine tons of drugs in Misiones that were in a Brazilian-origin truck.

According to the report accessed by the Argentine News Agency, personnel stopped the progress of a general cargo transport of Brazilian origin at kilometer No. 1,509 of National Route No. 12, in the Misiones locality of Caraguatay.

“During the documentary control, officials detected irregularities in the International Manifests of Land Cargo/Customs Transit Declaration (MIC/DTA), which turned out to be apocryphal,” they explained.

Faced with this situation, the agents proceeded to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and its cargo, which revealed the truth behind this operation.

During the search, the narcotic detector “Vera” reacted to the possible presence of narcotics, marking several places on the vehicle.

“After removing the tarp from the cargo sector, they confirmed the presence of 326 bales containing 11,667 rectangular packages, with a total weight of 9,490 kilograms 200 grams of cannabis sativa, according to tests carried out by members of Criminalistics and Forensic Studies,” the authorities described.

While this work was being carried out, it was confirmed that the truck had an active seizure order for robbery in Morón, Buenos Aires Province, so the license plate it was carrying did not belong to it.

The Federal Court and the Federal Prosecutor's Office of Eldorado ordered the detention of the individual, of Brazilian nationality, the seizure of the drugs, the vehicle, and all documentation, as well as items of interest to the case.

The work was carried out in coordination with the “Eldorado” Investigations and Judicial Procedures Unit and the “Iguazú” Criminal Intelligence Unit, in a work of international cooperation with the “Integrated Force to Combat Organized Crime” (FICCO) of the state of Paraná, the Federative Republic of Brazil.
