The governor of Río Negro, Alberto Weretilneck, referred to the fires that took place in El Bolsón, highlighting that the tragedy served for society to grow. At the beginning of the new year, he emphasized the importance of diversity and democracy. Regarding the reconstruction of the affected area, he mentioned the protected natural area Río Azul–Lago Escondido and the town of Mallín Ahogado.
It was announced that 30 million pesos will be allocated to help the affected neighbors and 500 million to producers and entrepreneurs who suffered losses in the fires. Weretilneck valued the effort of the National Government in the fight against the fire and thanked the cooperation of provinces like Santiago del Estero and Buenos Aires.
Despite acknowledging the support of the national Executive during the fires, the Río Negro governor also pointed out the cuts in federal co-participation made by Javier Milei's government. In his speech, he expressed that currently the Nation retains a higher percentage of taxes compared to the provinces, which has raised concerns in several regions of the country.
Weretilneck joined the demand of other provinces regarding the adjustments in the distribution of resources, mentioning difficulties in areas such as roads, education, and health programs. During the opening of the ordinary session of the legislative period, the Río Negro governor highlighted the challenges faced by the province after the fires in El Bolsón and the need to address the issue of federal co-participation.
