Missing women in El Bolsón found alive

Two young women, Valeria and Ariana, who had gone missing while exploring areas near a shelter in El Bolsón, were found in good health after spending two nights in the mountains. The women showed signs of cold and hunger when discovered, although it was confirmed that they were safe.

On Friday, Valeria and Ariana went on a hike and did not return as planned. This triggered a search operation that involved specialized teams, drones, and dogs to track the area of El Bolsón. It was decided to temporarily close access to the Protected Natural Area Río Azul – Lago Escondido for safety reasons during the search.

Despite the low temperatures in the region, which dropped to -1°C in El Bolsón and were even colder in the mountains, the young women were out of danger when found. They needed assistance due to the cold and lack of food, but overall they were in good health.

The search operation, deployed on Saturday by personnel from the Gendarmerie and the Search and Rescue Brigade, remained active on Sunday with the collaboration of Volunteer Firefighters, the Aid Commission, and officers from the Río Negro Police. Finally, Valeria and Ariana were located alive, bringing an end to the distressing search.
