Wildfire Affects More Than 70 Houses in El Bolsón

A large-scale forest fire has affected an area of approximately 3,530 hectares, encompassing planted forests, native forests, shrubs, and grasslands. As a result of this disaster, more than 70 houses have been damaged and over 200 people had to be evacuated.

Authorities have reported that work continues in the area to identify possible heat sources and prevent the fire from reigniting, which could pose a risk to the population. Although the fire spots in the El Pedregoso region remain active, they have not shown significant expansion since Wednesday.

Eduardo Pérez, Undersecretary of Civil Protection, mentioned that although there are three active fire spots, the efforts of the firefighting teams have yielded positive results so far, managing to contain the spread of the flames in approximately 55 hectares of various forested areas.

Authorities have reiterated the importance of the population staying informed and following the instructions of emergency teams to prevent the emergence of new fires. On the other hand, the company Edersa will carry out a preventive power cut in some neighborhoods of El Bolsón due to the emergency situation and adverse weather conditions.

After several days of hard work by the firefighters and security forces, the fire has been contained, although monitoring will continue until its complete extinction. In a related incident in Epuyén, Chubut, two women were detained for their alleged responsibility in starting the fire, which was able to be controlled on Thursday night.
