The governor of Río Negro, Alberto Weretilneck, expressed his solidarity with those affected by the wildfires that remain active in the Lanín and Nahuel Huapi parks, near San Carlos de Bariloche, with similar conditions to those in El Bolsón. In the El Manso area, the promotion commission warned residents about an imminent risk, from kilometer 18 of the internal road to Route 40, due to the uncontrolled spread of the fire.
According to the local chief, significant re-sprouts and advances of the fire have been observed due to unfavorable weather conditions. Despite the efforts of firefighters to contain the flames, the rate of spread has become uncontrollable, with areas where the flames have jumped up to 500 meters without touching surrounding homes, describing the situation as a "fireball."
In El Bolsón, around 800 tourists were evacuated from mountain shelters due to the fire that has already consumed more than 2,000 hectares. The fire started in Loma de los Piches near Cajón del Azul and rapidly spread eastward due to intense wind gusts. The mayor of El Bolsón, Bruno Pogliano, described the situation as an unprecedented tragedy in the area and in the province of Río Negro, promising not to leave anyone behind amid the crisis.
Governor Weretilneck recognized the difficult situation faced by the affected communities and highlighted the strength and solidarity of residents in the reconstruction that will follow. He mentioned that the impact of the fires is heartbreaking, especially for every neighbor and every family affected by the disaster.
