Fire in El Bolsón: Governor Investigating Causes

The governor of Río Negro, Alberto Weretilneck, reported that there is no one from the rest of the country whose life is in danger due to the fire in El Bolsón. The evacuation of tourists is being organized voluntarily, without being mandatory. Weretilneck assured that the origin of the flames is being investigated, and he cannot confirm whether it was intentional or due to negligence.

In a press conference, the provincial leader added that a plan is being developed to voluntarily evacuate tourists who were in the shelters. He also mentioned that efforts are being made to normalize the situation for affected residents as soon as possible, although it is still not possible to quantify the material damages and the number of affected houses.

Weretilneck visited the area with his team to supervise the ongoing actions. He assured that those who wish to stay in the shelters can do so. On the other hand, he confirmed that the flames did not affect the structure of School 103, but did cause damage to the Health Center, which is being supplied with necessary medications for its operation.

The Municipal Emergency Committee reported that Route 40 is passable with assistance between Río Villegas and El Bolsón, requesting caution due to the presence of emergency vehicles. Weretilneck hinted at the possibility that the fire, which has consumed around 1,600 hectares in El Bolsón, may have been intentional, although this is still under investigation.
