The technician Diego Dabove has decided to resign as the coach of Instituto de Córdoba after an incident with the barra brava interrupted a team practice in La Agustina last Wednesday. Dabove, in an official statement from the club, thanked the work done by him and his team during a challenging season. Dabove's departure comes at a complicated time for the club, which has won only one of its last nine matches and is in fourteenth place in the Liga Profesional, with eight victories, five draws, and nine defeats in 22 matches played.
The Board of Instituto announced that the team will be led on an interim basis by Daniel "Miliki" Jiménez and Bruno Martelotto, while the search for a new head coach begins. The club is committed to taking the necessary time to find a profile in line with the objectives of the institution, especially at a crucial moment to qualify for international cups and distance itself from the relegation zone in the averages.
Diego Dabove had an effectiveness of 42.7% in almost 60 matches in charge of the team, with 20 victories, 17 draws, and 23 defeats since his arrival in June 2023. In a statement to the press following his resignation, Dabove mentioned that his decision aimed to "decompress" the current situation and that he was leaving with a sense of sadness, but convinced that it was the best for the group. Despite the negative results, he was confident that with the support of the fans, the team would move forward in the next match against Argentinos Juniors.
The relationship between Dabove and the Instituto board, particularly with Juan Cavagliatto, was always cordial, according to the now ex-coach in his statement. Although it was rumored that he had no intentions of renewing his contract at the end of the season, the incident with the barra brava accelerated his departure.
