Man in Argentina Threatens Employer with Knife on First Day of Work

A 45-year-old man from Jujuy has been charged with threatening his employer with a knife and improperly withholding money after driving a truck on his first day of work in the Salta city of Colonia Santa Rosa. According to the Argentine News Agency (NA) and details provided by the Salta Public Prosecutor's Office, the accused was hired to drive a truck. However, after completing the route, he did not hand over all the money collected, abandoned the vehicle, and when the owner demanded it, he threatened her with a knife. The report stated that the suspect was provisionally charged by prosecutor María Sofía Fuentes under the charges of “unlawful detention and threats with a weapon, in real concurrence.” The prosecution also requested that the accused remain in custody. The employer revealed that she hired him last November on a recommendation, but after the first trip, she lost all contact and did not know anything about the truck or the money she was supposed to collect for the freight. Later, she found the abandoned, locked, and keyless vehicle in a yard in Colonia Santa Rosa. Therefore, the woman left, and when she returned with the tools to open the vehicle, she found the man inside. This is when the aforementioned assault occurred. Police personnel arrived, apprehended the individual, and seized the weapon used. The prosecutor's office is taking various measures to clarify the incident.
