Father of slain boy demands justice in Argentina

Buenos Aires, March 17 (NA) – The father of Thiago Correa, the 7-year-old boy who died from a gunshot wound in the Buenos Aires locality of Ciudad Evita, called for speed in the case and asked for his son's murder 'not to go unpunished'. Fabián Correa spoke with the Argentine News Agency, expressing that he is 'anguished' by the minor's absence and considered that the Justice system is acting with 'slowness' to clarify the event that occurred in June 2025. 'I need justice to be done to be able to grieve in peace. I don't know what to do, this situation tears me apart and I feel sad,' he expressed. In this sense, he stated that for months he has received the same response from the investigators, who assure him that 'he must wait', for which he held: 'I'm afraid it will go unpunished'. 'I don't want society to forget what happened to Thiago, and I also don't want them to forget that he saved four lives,' Correa pointed out. A 4-year-old boy received the victim's heart; a 5-year-old boy benefited from his left kidney; a 46-year-old woman received a right kidney transplant; and a 13-year-old adolescent received his liver. The status of the case The head of La Matanza Guarantee Court No. 3, Roberto Occhipinti, elevated the case to an oral and public trial against officer Facundo Aguilar Fajardo for the crime of negligent homicide and excess in legitimate defense. The judge also rejected the dismissal proposed by the defense, while the prosecution considers that the fact was a simple intentional homicide with eventual intent. The Appeals Chamber must analyze the appeal, determine if it ratifies the trial or if it dismisses the case for the uniformed man, who is at liberty. The murder Uriel Alexis Montenovo (21 years old), Uriel Emanuel Leyva (21), Brandon Corpus (18) and Joaquín López Otto are the four thieves involved in the police robbery attempt. Corpus died after receiving six gunshots, while Montenovo was injured with a shot in the leg, and Leyva was shot in the abdomen. The victim's family is fighting for the accused to be tried for simple intentional homicide with eventual intent, whose penalty ranges between 8 and 25 years in prison.
