Motorcyclist Dies in Head-On Collision in Río Negro

A 26-year-old motorcyclist died in a head-on collision with a car in the province of Río Negro. The incident occurred at kilometer 1,007 of Route 22, near the town of Darwin. A family traveling in a white Chevrolet Prisma from the city of Zapala in the province of Neuquén to Las Grutas crashed into a 110cc motorcycle, according to local media. The victim, identified as Mario Oscar Navarro, was traveling in the direction of Choele Choel-Darwin and died from severe injuries. The car was driven by a 66-year-old retired police officer, who was accompanied by his 63-year-old wife, two adults aged 67, and a 7-year-old child. Both vehicles were heavily damaged, as the left front wheel came off the Prisma, and the motorcycle ended up on the side of the road. Officers from the 8th Police Station of Choele-Choel intervened at the scene. Personnel from the Criminalistics Office conducted the necessary investigations, while the Traffic Safety Corps interrupted traffic for several minutes and preserved the scene. The Justice system is attempting to determine the circumstances of the accident, which caused shock and dismay in the community, as it is a very busy area during the holiday season.
