Argentina to Build First Municipally-Funded Tunnel

The municipality of Tres de Febrero announced the construction of the first road tunnel entirely financed with municipal resources. The tunnel will be built at the intersection of Hornos Street and the railway lines in the locality of Caseros, one of the district's main traffic congestion points.

According to the Argentine News Agency (NA), the project will include dedicated lanes for cars and public transport, wide sidewalks, and new lighting. It will be complemented by repaving and urban planning works to improve connections between different neighborhoods and reduce daily travel times.

The project is part of a package of infrastructure investments that includes concrete patching on several arteries in the district and the renewal of strategic corridors, with the aim of decompressing other level crossings and reducing the risk of accidents at conflicting railway intersections.
