Central defender Sergio Ramos has expressed his interest in playing for Boca Juniors, a team he has shown affinity for on several occasions over the years. In a previous interview, Ramos stated his preference for Boca due to his admiration for figures like Diego Maradona and Juan Román Riquelme, in addition to mentioning his attraction to La Bombonera.
Claudio Caniggia, former player and reference of Argentine football, revealed that Ramos' brother confessed to him that the Spanish footballer is excited about the possibility of playing for Boca at the end of his career. Moreover, Ramos has held conversations with the club's president, Juan Román Riquelme, and with the coach, Fernando Gago, with whom he shared a team at Real Madrid.
According to the Spanish press, the 38-year-old defender has been without a team since June when his contract with Sevilla ended, and he would be interested in trying his luck in Argentine football. There have been rumors that Boca offered him an annual salary of five million euros, but so far, no official contact between the club and the player has been confirmed.
On the other hand, it is noted that Boca has already filled its quota of foreign players with the addition of Gary Medel, which would imply that they would need to part with a player to accommodate Sergio Ramos if his arrival is confirmed. Ramos has made it clear that he prefers Boca over its historic rival, River Plate, which makes the possibility of seeing him wear the xeneize jersey in the future even more striking.
