Boca's Starting Goalkeeper Injury Before Superclásico

Buenos Aires, April 14 (NA) – Boca Juniors suffered a significant setback this Tuesday during their match against Barcelona from Ecuador, when Agustín Marchesín had to leave the field of La Bombonera at the 12-minute mark of the first half due to a right knee injury, in the match corresponding to the second date of Group D of the 2026 Copa Libertadores. Initially, the main concern is to know if Boca will lose its starting goalkeeper for the upcoming commitments, at a decisive stage of the semester, with the Superclásico against River around the corner (this Sunday at the Monumental). The match against Barcelona began at 9 PM at the Alberto J. Armando stadium and is part of the second round of Group D of the continental tournament. The goalkeeper, visibly in pain, left the field in tears and was replaced by Leandro Brey. The play raised concern among the technical staff and all of Boca, as Marchesín lost stability in the affected area and could not continue in the match. According to what the Argentine News Agency learned, the former Argentine national team goalkeeper could not firmly support his right leg at the time of leaving the field. So far, there has been no official medical report on the degree of the injury, so the extent of the discomfort will have to be confirmed with studies in the coming hours or days.
