Buenos Aires, April 4 (NA) – Independiente's head coach, Gustavo Quinteros, spoke at a press conference after the 1-0 victory in the 'Clásico de Avellaneda' against Racing and admitted that 'this time we got lucky'. After the win in a tough match that was only broken open in the 35th minute of the second half with a goal from Paraguayan striker Gabriel Ávalos, Quinteros analyzed: 'The first half I didn't like much. However, he noted that 'in the second half we improved and created two very good plays, from one of which the goal came'. Quinteros also commented on the penalty that Adrián 'Maravilla' Martínez, Racing's star striker, missed: 'The penalty was doubtful. There was a lot of ball division, aerial balls, direct play. I think today we were more precise in the area'. In turn, he confessed that 'this time we got lucky because they had three situations and we had three or four. We contained ourselves because the mood changed', and continued: 'By improving some things and defending a bit better, we will have many more chances to win matches'. He also added that 'it is not to our liking to play like that'. According to the Argentine News Agency, the local coach clarified that 'we entered a game that the rival does better than us and that is why the first half I didn't like it'. In turn, he avoided giving more importance than necessary to the victory in this clásico: 'I understand the passion of the people and the clásicos, but the match is worth three points. I wish it were worth more... For the people today it was much more important to beat the eternal rival than to add three'. Finally, he showed hopeful for what is coming for the 'Rojo': 'I understand the people and it has been a long time since Independiente needed big joys. There was a lot of ball division, aerial balls, direct play. I hope we can give the people a big joy this season'. 'Maravilla' missed the penalty and couldn't finish in another clear chance.
