Ex-Referee Lunati Enters Argentine Football Scandal

Buenos Aires, March 27 (NA) -- Former referee Pablo Lunati posted a harsh message on social media amid the scandal over leaked chats involving Argentine football referees, which has caused a major controversy within the Argentine Football Association (AFA). Through his personal account, Lunati launched criticisms without mentioning a direct recipient, although in the football world, it was interpreted as a message aimed at one of the implicated referees. "I love it, you're a crook, a thief, and a cop. You haven't changed," he wrote. The former judge also questioned the career of the person he was referring to and alluded to alleged favors received in the past. "You lost your code with the people who gave you a huge hand when nobody wanted you," he added. According to information from the Argentine News Agency, the post comes in the context of the dissemination of chats attributed to referee Fernando Espinoza, which has caused a major stir in Argentine refereeing. In parallel, referee Luis Lobo Medina also came under scrutiny, being investigated for alleged irregularities and possible result manipulations, which has deepened the crisis in the sector. This episode is taking place amid tensions within the leadership of Argentine football, with criticism of refereeing and demands for greater transparency in the AFA's structure.
