Buenos Aires, March 19 (NA) -- Coach Ramón Díaz backed Eduardo Coudet as the head coach at the start of River Plate's new cycle and expressed confidence that he will be able to turn the team's current situation around.
The historic coach, who was not considered by the management after Marcelo Gallardo's departure, avoided controversy and chose to send a positive message, as compiled by the Argentine News Agency (NA).
"Chacho is a friend, he will surely give the team a great functionality and very important results for the club, I wish him the best," affirmed Ramón Díaz about Eduardo Coudet, in dialogue with Radio Güemes.
Additionally, "Pelado" highlighted the coach's knowledge and personality to steer the team in this new stage.
Far from showing displeasure at not having been taken into account, the Riojan emphasized the close relationship he maintains with Coudet, whom he coached in 1999.
Díaz even revealed that they remain in frequent contact and recalled his time at Internacional, where they coincided.
Díaz's name had been pushed by fans during the transition, but the management headed by Enzo Francescoli and Stefano Di Carlo opted for Coudet.
Meanwhile, "Pelado" remains on the sidelines and bets on the team's football recovery.
