Buenos Aires, March 10 (NA) -- Former Buenos Aires legislator Ramiro Marra questioned the reform project for La Bombonera stadium, promoted by President Juan Román Riquelme, and asserted that the initiative is unviable from a legal and structural standpoint. The former lawmaker stated that the plan cannot be carried out as it would entail the use of lands belonging to the national state and because the stadium lacks the necessary structure to support a new tier. "Let's be clear: the Bombonera reform that Riquelme proposes cannot be done as it represents an encroachment on national territories," Marra remarked. Marra also criticized the design presented by Boca Juniors' leadership and stated that a fourth tier could not be built on top of the third without structural reinforcements: "No civil engineer is going to approve this," he noted, according to the Argentine News Agency. Furthermore, Marra emphasized that any modification to the height of the stands requires intervention from the Buenos Aires Legislature: "That's why I presented a bill," he concluded. "It's unviable," he assured on his X account. As he explained, there is also no possibility of moving the pitch or advancing into the area near the railway tracks. "The pitch cannot be moved, the area by the tracks cannot be encroached upon, it belongs to the national government," he maintained. In addition to that, there is no structure to support a fourth tier.
