Forward Rodrigo Auzmendi, the protagonist of one of the biggest sagas on the recent transfer market, will finally continue his career at San Lorenzo. Auzmendi, whose rights belonged to Banfield, was bought by Querétaro of Mexico for one million dollars (Banfield's debt to Querétaro for Martín Río). Querétaro will loan him until the end of the year as they do not have a roster spot. According to the Argentine News Agency, the forward had been involved in a strong dispute with the Banfield board, as there was a possibility he could continue his career at Lanús, their classic rival. Even Banfield's president, Matías Mariotto, had stated on television that “ethically we don't see it well that he goes to Lanús,” and doubled down: “If he doesn't go to San Lorenzo, he will train with the reserve team.” San Lorenzo will be the fourth club in Auzmendi's career, who debuted in May 2022 when he played for San Marcos de Arica, which at the time was in the third division of Chile. After shining at Monagas of Honduras, the forward arrived at Banfield in the middle of last year, where he scored four goals and provided two assists in 22 matches.
