Buenos Aires, Feb 9 (NA) – River Plate will seek to move on from the 4-1 thrashing they suffered at home last Saturday against Tigre in the fourth round of the Apertura Tournament. Coach Marcelo Gallardo plans some changes to get back to winning ways against Argentinos Juniors.
According to the Argentine News Agency, the 'Millionaire' will face the La Paternal side next Thursday at 21:15, with the aim of recovering both mentally and football-wise. In this way, the 'Muñeco' would modify the starting eleven compared to the one that fell heavily against the 'Matador'.
One of the changes would be mandatory due to the expulsion of Fausto Vera, who has earned his place in the coach's scheme since his arrival in January. His replacement could come from two options: Giuliano Galoppo and Kevin Castaño, who will have to prove themselves in training to earn a spot in the starting lineup.
On the other hand, the second modification would take place in goal, if Franco Armani's full recovery is finally confirmed. Additionally, he had kept the clean sheet in all of them, except the last one against Tigre where he conceded four goals in a difficult night for the entire 'La Banda' squad.
Similarly, there could also be changes in the defense due to the poor performance of the central pairing, a situation that would open the door for Chilean Paulo Díaz after his correct performance against Rosario Central.
Finally, Matías Viña and Marcos Acuña, both with a low performance, will fight for a spot against Argentinos Juniors, while Aníbal Moreno, Tomás Galván and Juan Fernando Quintero, in the midfield, and Facundo Colidio and Maximiliano Salas will continue from the start in the attack due to the absence of Sebastián Driussi.
If he receives medical clearance, the historic millionaire goalkeeper would come in for Santiago Beltrán. The 21-year-old goalkeeper was the defender of the three posts for River throughout the preseason and the first four rounds of the Apertura Tournament.
