The qualifying rounds for the Argentina Open are set to begin this Saturday in Buenos Aires, featuring intense competition with several local players. Four Argentine tennis players will compete to secure their spots in the main draw: Román Burruchaga, Alex Barrena, Federico Coria, and Lautaro Midón.
Burruchaga and Barrena entered the qualifiers based on their current rankings. Coria, who has struggled with injuries recently, entered using a protected ranking. Meanwhile, 21-year-old Midón, ranked 231st, received a wild card invitation from the tournament organizers.
The main draw already features a strong Argentine lineup, including Francisco and Juan Manuel Cerúndolo, Sebastián Báez, Camilo Ugo Carabelli, Tomás Etcheverry, Francisco Comesaña, and Mariano Navone.
Following the withdrawal of world No. 5 Lorenzo Musetti due to injury, Francisco Cerúndolo has been named the tournament's top seed. The Argentina Open marks the start of the South American clay-court swing, followed by ATP 500 in Rio and concluding with the ATP 250 in Santiago.
