Buenos Aires, February 3 (NA) – San Lorenzo has reached an institutional and economic agreement with Deportivo Riestra for the rental of the Pedro Bidegain stadium, where the “Malevo” will play its home matches during the group stage of the Copa Sudamericana, which will begin the week of April 8. Although the information had been circulating for several days, the operation was officially confirmed during the last meeting of the club’s board of directors, held this Monday at the Roberto Pando Polideportivo, with the presence of members and a live broadcast on the ADN Azulgrana platform. There, the terms of the agreement that authorizes Riestra to use the Nuevo Gasómetro on an international level were approved, as reported by the Argentine News Agency. According to the club’s secretary, Martín Saiz, San Lorenzo will charge 135 million pesos in cash for the rental of the stadium, a figure corresponding to the three matches that Riestra will play as a local during the group stage. Furthermore, the agreement states that any sanction, incident, or conflict that may arise during these matches will be the exclusive responsibility of the visiting club, leaving the “Cyclone” exempt from sports or economic penalties. Deportivo Riestra’s decision to change its home venue is due to a regulatory issue. The Guillermo Laza stadium does not meet the minimum infrastructure requirements demanded by Conmebol for the holding of international competitions, which forced the club to seek an alternative authorized for the Sudamericana. In this context, the Nuevo Gasómetro appeared as a logical and practical solution, not only for its capacity and conditions, but also for its geographical proximity: both stadiums are separated by only 400 meters, crossing the Avenida Varela. For San Lorenzo, the agreement represents an extra income at a sensitive economic moment, without interfering with its sports schedule, and is considered by the management as an opportunity to strengthen the club’s coffers while also facing its own participation in the Copa Sudamericana.
