Italian tennis player Lorenzo Musetti, currently ranked fifth in the ATP world rankings, announced on Sunday that he is withdrawing from the Argentina Open due to an injury sustained at the Australian Open. He suffered the injury during his quarter-final match against Novak Djokovic. The 23-year-old from Carrara was forced to abandon the duel against the Serbian due to a physical problem, which was later confirmed to be a right hamstring tear. In a video on social media, Musetti announced his decision not to participate in the Buenos Aires ATP tournament to fully recover for the rest of the season. He was leading Djokovic two sets to love when he felt discomfort in his right leg, forcing him to retire from the court. This allowed the former world number one to advance to the final, where he would lose to Carlos Alcaraz. Musetti will also miss the Rio Open 2026 in Brazil, as he stated that his recovery time will be longer than expected.
