The Pumas 7s had a very poor performance in the group stage of the Singapore Sevens and finished last after losing to Australia, New Zealand, and France. In their first match, led by Santiago Gómez, the Argentinians had a disastrous start against Australia, who were already winning 19-0 in just six minutes thanks to tries from Aden Ekanayake, Jayden Blake, and Dietrich Roache, who also scored two conversions. The Pumas 7s reacted towards the end of the first half thanks to Marcos Moneta's try and Joaquín Pellandini's subsequent conversion, while at the start of the second half they closed the gap with Santiago Mare's try and another conversion from Pellandini. However, the Australians defended their five-point lead well to secure a narrow victory. In their second match against New Zealand, the Pumas had a very good start and took a 10-0 lead. After a strong response from the All Blacks, the Argentines managed to be ahead 20-19 in the final minutes, but the Oceanic side won thanks to Kele Lasaqa's try in the final minute and its conversion for the final 26-20 score. In the last match against France, the Pumas experienced something similar to what happened against New Zealand, as they had a very good first half but collapsed in the second. The national team's three tries from Santino Zangara were not enough, as the French secured a 19-15 victory in the final minute through Ali Dabo's try and Stephen Parez's subsequent conversion. The Pumas 7s' action will continue this Sunday when they face Spain at 1:44 AM in the fifth-place semifinals. The Singapore Sevens is the third leg of the 2025/26 World Series. In the first weekend of competition in Dubai, they finished eighth and last, while in Cape Town they secured second place.
