The Disciplinary Tribunal of the Argentine Football Association announced this Thursday the sanction imposed on Santiago Montiel, a forward for Independiente, following his direct red card against Estudiantes in the first round of the Apertura. According to information from the Argentine News Agency, the 'Rojo' winger saw the red card at the 3rd minute of the second half after a strong impact on defender Leandro González Pirez, after the latter committed a foul. In this way, the former Argentinos Juniors served his suspension in the Avellaneda team's 1-1 draw with Newell's Old Boys last Tuesday, valid for the second round of the local championship. Now, the 'Red Devils' will return to the Libertadores de América – Ricardo Enrique Bochini stadium to receive Vélez, on Saturday, January 31st at 19:45, with the objective of achieving their first victory in the tournament, and Montiel could be present in the match. However, despite the 'Rojo' forward no longer carrying the sanction, it will be necessary to wait to see if head coach Gustavo Quinteros includes him from the start or leaves him out of the eleven as a punishment for the irresponsibility committed against the 'Pincha's central defender. 'This is not the first time he has made this type of mistake.'
