Banfield and Huracán played to a 1-1 draw in the first matchday of the Apertura tournament of the Argentine Professional Football League. The match took place at the Florencio Solá stadium in Buenos Aires. Banfield, playing at home, took the lead in the third minute of the second half thanks to a goal from Uruguayan forward Mauro Méndez. However, in the 39th minute, Huracán managed to equalize through a strike from Ecuadorian forward Jordy Caicedo. Both teams finished the match with ten men: Thaiel Peralta (Huracán) and Santiago Esquivel (Banfield) were sent off for rough play. "Taladro", which fought to avoid relegation last season, will continue in the Apertura when they visit Sarmiento on January 29. Huracán, on the other hand, will host Independiente Rivadavia on January 27.
