Buenos Aires, January 20 (NA) — Las Leonas, the women's national field hockey team, resumed training ahead of their next official match in the FIH Pro League 2025-26. This comes after the first window held in Santiago del Estero. The women's team, led by coach Fernando Ferrara, has begun work with a list of 32 called-up players, aiming to prepare for a demanding tour that will mark a strong start to the 2026 international calendar, according to the Argentine News Agency.

After an intense 2025, during which Argentina secured qualification for the 2026 World Cup through the Pro League and won the continental title at the America's Cup, the new year sets ambitious goals for the team. The first challenge will be the second window of the annual competition that brings together the world's hockey elite, which will be held in the city of Hobart, Australia.

The window will be held from February 10 to 15, with four matches confirmed for Las Leonas. They will debut on February 10 against Ireland at 5:30 PM (Argentine time), face Australia on February 11 at 3:00 PM, play Ireland again on February 13 at 5:30 PM, and close against the hosts on February 14 at 4:30 PM, all in Hobart.

Following this tour, the official calendar will continue with the Pro League's European window in June and the main goal of the year: the 2026 World Cup, to be held from August 15 to 30. With the core of the team already in motion and the squad in action, Las Leonas have begun the journey of a 2026 that will demand maximum rigor and decisive challenges in the second half of the season.
