The Justice Ministry has indicted the president and treasurer of the Argentine Football Association (AFA), Claudio "Chiqui" Tapia and Pablo Toviggin, for alleged illegal retention of pension contributions. The decision was made by prosecutor Claudio Navas Rial.
The indictment is part of an investigation that uncovered a debt exceeding 19,000 million pesos in pension contributions that the AFA should have paid. The case is now under the supervision of Judge Diego Amarante.
In a statement, the prosecutor stressed the seriousness of the allegations and called for a thorough audit. The AFA has not yet responded to the accusations.
