The president of the Argentine Football Association (AFA), Claudio Tapia, congratulated Rosario Central on its 136th anniversary amidst the controversy over the league championship title awarded to 'El Canalla' a month ago. As reported by the Argentine News Agency, the executive published a tweet on his social network X (formerly Twitter) in which he greeted the Rosario club on its 136 years of history and stated that 'on this very special day for the institution, I send a big hug to Gonzalo Belloso, Carolina Cristinziano, the Board of Directors, and all the Canalla People'. A month ago, at an Executive Committee meeting and without a formal vote from the representatives, Rosario Central was crowned league champion for being the team that accumulated the most points in the annual table of this season. This sparked indignation across much of Argentine football, and without backing down, the AFA forced Estudiantes de La Plata to form a 'champion's corridor' for Rosario Central in the corresponding round of 16 match in Santa Fe province. In an image that went viral, 'El Pincha' formed the corridor but with their backs turned as a sign of repudiation to the Rosario team, and to make matters worse, they beat them 1-0 with a goal from Colombian Edwin Cetré, starting their path to the conquest of the Clausura Tournament, which took place last Saturday, December 13.
