Boca Juniors defeated Vélez 2-0 to win the 2025 Trophy of Champions. The match, played tonight at the Florencio Sola stadium in Banfield, brought the Buenos Aires team the coveted title.

According to the Argentine News Agency (NA), the goals were scored by forward Iker Zufiarre with a header in the second minute of added time in the first half, and by midfielder Lautaro Bianco in the 43rd minute of the second half.

The "Xeneize", who last week won the Clausura Tournament by defeating Gimnasia at the same stadium, was named the reserve team of the year after beating Vélez, the current Apertura champion, in the final.

The match began with Vélez on the attack. Midfielder Bautista Ramirez's right-footed shot went over the bar. A fine individual run from winger Damian Dominguez, moving from center to left, ended with a cross-shot that goalkeeper Leandro Brey saved.

The first goal of the night came in the second minute of added time in the first half. From a corner kick on the near post, forward Iker Zufiarre got ahead of everyone, redirected the ball around the goalkeeper, and put Boca 1-0 up.

After the break, Boca had their first chance in the first minute. Zufiarre went down the right and shot high, but goalkeeper Álvaro Busso was well-placed.

A minute later, Vélez striker Francisco Pozzo controlled the ball in the box and shot, but he was under pressure and his right-footed effort went just wide of the post.

In the 27th minute of the second half, a header from Vélez striker Leonel Flores and a follow-up shot from the rebound were cleared off the line by defender Lucio Valdez.

Then, in the 43rd minute, midfielder Lautaro Bianco received the ball on the left, advanced into the box, and sealed the "Xeneize" victory with a low shot to the near corner.
