The Professional Football League has adopted an unprecedented measure for its internal operations: all meetings of its Executive Committee will be recorded. According to the Argentine News Agency, this decision aims to prevent rumors and distorted versions of what is discussed behind closed doors, while also ensuring that those who cannot attend have access to everything addressed in these meetings. The recordings began to be implemented prior to the draw for the 2026 season and the Argentine Cup, held at the Lionel Messi Predio in Ezeiza. The initiative had the approval of all the leaders present, with the exception of Estudiantes de La Plata, which was the only club that did not send representatives amidst weeks of strong institutional tension with the Argentine Football Association (AFA). The meeting also marked the return of Marcelo Moretti representing San Lorenzo after months of internal controversies, while Claudio Tapia spoke about the raids carried out on Tuesday at the AFA and other institutions. The president of the main football body in Argentina left a forceful message: he assured that he will not give in to pressures from sectors that, he claimed, seek to obtain national football rights that were denied to them.
During the meeting, the tournaments to be held in 2026 were ratified: Apertura and Clausura—with the same format as the current season—Argentine Cup, Champions Trophy, International Super Cup, Argentine Super Cup, and the Champions' Recopa. Additionally, the continuity of the "League Champion" title, awarded to the team that accumulates the most points in the annual table, was confirmed, a distinction that this year went to Rosario Central.
