Buenos Aires, December 10 (NA) – Racing and Estudiantes de La Plata will face this Saturday in the hunt for the title in the Torneo Clausura of the Professional Football League, which will grant the winner a qualification for an unusual number of finals.
The team that takes the victory between Racing and Estudiantes de La Plata will face Platense on December 20 in the Trophy of Champions, which pits the winner of the Torneo Apertura against the winner of the Clausura. The match will also be covered live by the Argentine News Agency.
And from this match onwards, a journey of finals begins, demonstrating the incomprehensible number of tournaments in Argentine football.
The winner of the Trophy of Champions will earn the right to play in the International Super Cup against the League Champion, that title that the AFA invented for Rosario Central for finishing first in the annual table.
But the count does not end there, as there is also the Champions' Recopa, which is a three-way tournament between the champions of the Argentine Cup, the Argentine Super Cup, and the International Super Cup.
These are the trophies that Racing or Estudiantes could win just by winning the Clausura:
- Trophy of Champions: against the winner of the Apertura
- International Super Cup: winner of the Trophy of Champions against the League Champion
- Argentine Super Cup: winner of the Trophy of Champions against the winner of the Argentine Cup
- Champions' Recopa: a three-way tournament between the winners of the International Super Cup, the Argentine Super Cup, and the Argentine Cup
