Boca Juniors has won a lawsuit against Racing Club midfielder Agustín Almendra, who must pay the club $769,231 in compensation for a debt. The court made this decision after Boca's claim, following Almendra's departure on a free transfer in 2023 following a dispute with then-coach Sebastián Battaglia, who had sidelined him from the squad. According to information accessed by the Argentine News Agency, Almendra did not play for Boca again, refused to renew his contract, and became a free agent. However, back in 2019, Boca had granted Almendra a loan of $500,000 for the acquisition of a housing, which he did not return, as the Ribera entity was able to confirm in court. The current Racing player, who emerged from the Boca youth academy, won 4 titles with Boca, played 69 official matches, and scored 6 goals. Currently, Almendra has a key role at Racing, as he is one of the players who usually starts in the team coached by Gustavo Costas, which won the 2024-2025 Copa Sudamericana and Recopa Sudamericana. Since his arrival at "The Academy" in mid-2023, Almendra has played 59 matches, scoring five goals and providing nine assists.
