San Lorenzo defeated Riestra 1-0 in a match played this evening at the Pedro Bidegain stadium, for the 14th matchday of the 2025 Clausura Tournament.
The only goal of the night was scored by forward Alexis Cuello with a fine scissors kick in the 5th minute of the second half.
With the win, the "Cyclone" moved up to fifth place in Zone B with 22 points, while Riestra remains in second place with 27 points.
In the next round, the team led by Damián Ayude will visit Rosario Central, the group leader, on Friday, November 7th at 9:00 PM, while the "Malevo" will receive Independiente on Monday, 10th at 7:00 PM.
The first chance of the game fell to the home side in the 20th minute of the first half, with a through pass that left Alexis Cuello one-on-one, who got past goalkeeper Ignacio Arce but the ball was too high and his header went just over the crossbar.
Nine minutes later, the attacking midfielder Facundo Gulli advanced from the right to the center and unleashed a low left-footed strike to the near post, saved by Arce.
Riestra had their first clear chance in the 37th minute, when right-back Jonatan Goitia hit a low free-kick from just outside the area, which goalkeeper Orlando Gill kept out with a great display of reflexes and strength.
Three minutes later, a volley from the right edge of the area by forward Jonathan Herrera hit Gill again, who deflected the shot onto his right post.
In the second half, the first dangerous chance came from the visitors in the fourth minute.
