
The head of the Buenos Aires government, Jorge Macri, awarded the Key to the City to the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, during his visit to Argentina. The gesture took place at the Church of the Holy Cross in San Cristóbal, where both participated in a tribute to the French people who disappeared and were killed during the Argentine military dictatorship through a floral offering.
At the event, Macri emphasized the importance of the private sector and French investments as a growth engine in the City. Accompanied by his wife and journalist, María Belén Ludueña, and the Secretary General and of International Relations, Fulvio Pompeo, the head of Government highlighted the value of friendship between both nations and reaffirmed the commitment to keep the doors of Buenos Aires open for France.
The meeting between Macri and Macron is part of the official agenda of the French president in Argentina ahead of the G20 Summit to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The meeting took place in an atmosphere of cordiality and mutual respect, symbolizing the City’s support for Western leaders committed to defending democracy and individual freedoms.
