Survey Reveals Opposition Leadership Demands in Argentina

A survey conducted by the consulting firm Synopsis among 1,201 people from across the country reveals the characteristics that the opposition electorate seeks in a leader who can face President Javier Milei. According to the results, the need for this leader to have management experience, a commitment to intervene in the economy, a close identification with Peronism, and to be considered "new" in the political landscape, without being a complete "outsider", stands out.

In this sense, 84.2% of opposition respondents who would not vote for La Libertad Avanza in the current legislative elections emphasize the importance of the opposition leader having management experience. Likewise, the majority of respondents demand leadership inclined to intervene in the economy to promote national production, with a percentage rising to 91% if those who partially agree with this stance are considered.

Another relevant aspect is the preference for a leader "from the interior", highlighted by 43.4% of respondents, contrasting with the 32.1% who prefer someone from the metropolitan area. Regarding the preference for a new or known leadership, the survey reveals a slight majority in favor of new leadership (50.5%) compared to those preferring known leadership (43.8%).

On the other hand, in relation to ideological identity, the survey shows that almost two-thirds of respondents consider it important for the opposition leader to have a close identification with Peronism, while 27.5% think otherwise. Despite this, it is noted that a high percentage of those who supported Sergio Massa in 2023 and lean towards Peronism would be interested in voting for a representative closer to this force than to others.

In summary, the Synopsis survey conducted between October 7 and 12 in the city of Buenos Aires and other cities in the country, with a confidence level of 95.5% and a margin of error of ± 2.8%, provides important insights into the preferences and expectations of the opposition electorate regarding future political leadership in Argentina.
