President Javier Milei appears pragmatic and defends the premise of respecting a zero deficit, one of his main banners since assuming office. During a recent meeting at Casa Rosada with governors from PRO and other close associates, various issues related to the 2025 Budget and specific matters of the provinces were addressed.
In the meeting, Milei shared opinions and received proposals from governors, including Rogelio Frigerio from Entre Ríos, Ignacio 'Nacho' Torres from Chubut, Marcelo Orrego from San Juan, Claudio Poggi from San Luis, and Jorge Macri, Chief of Government of the City. The discussions included topics such as the financing of non-transferred pension funds, the payment of debts from public works transferred to the provinces, and compensations for the 2017 Fiscal Consensus, among others.
After the meeting, Milei congratulated Gustavo Sáenz, governor of Salta, via social media for the inauguration of a lithium hydroxide plant in his province. Likewise, the president praised the northern governors for their collaboration in promoting Argentine mining.
The Government sees the Budget as a key piece for the country's future, particularly with an eye on the mid-term elections. It is expected that La Libertad Avanza, Milei's party, will receive significant support from society in these elections, aiming to increase its presence in both chambers of Congress.
Milei's pragmatic approach in his interactions with the opposition and his ability to bring together different sectors depending on the political situation stand out. During the meeting at Casa Rosada, details of the Budget were discussed, and next steps for the Government in economic matters were outlined. The importance of maintaining a fluid dialogue with provincial deputies was underscored as part of the ruling party's parliamentary strategy.
