Today in the Casa Rosada in Buenos Aires, the Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei, met with the governors of Entre Ríos and Mendoza, Rogelio Frigerio and Alfredo Cornejo, and announced that a decree will be signed allowing some provinces to carry out infrastructure works on national highway sections through private investments. The meeting was also attended by the Minister of the Interior, Diego Santilli, and the Undersecretary of Institutional Management, Eduardo “Lule” Menem, while the Head of Cabinet, Manuel Adorni, was not present, who has recently been the focus of complaints for alleged irregularities. “During the meeting, officials and provincial leaders discussed the joint agenda shared by the provinces and the Nation. Among other management issues, the Government confirmed to the governors that it will move forward with a decree allowing some provinces to carry out infrastructure works on national highway sections within their territory through private investments,” it was reported in a communiqué accessed by the Argentine News Agency. In this regard, governors Frigerio and Cornejo “reaffirmed the Government's direction and the support of their provinces, also highlighting the joint work they carry out with the National Government,” as indicated in the same text.
The demand for infrastructure works has been growing among opposition leaders, and this Tuesday there was a march of Peronist mayors with the support of the Buenos Aires governor, Axel Kicillof, demanding action on this issue, as the libertarian administration has halted public works under the argument of lack of funds and the corruption denounced in that area during the Kirchnerist years.
