Buenos Aires, April 9 (NA) -- A man was charged with attacking a police officer with a glass and cutting his palm during an operation while they were trying to apprehend him, after his partner had called the police in the Rionegro neighborhood of September 29. According to the Argentine News Agency and as indicated by the Río Negro Public Prosecutor's Office, the incident occurred on September 6, 2025, when the accused was on a plot of land adjacent to his home. According to the accusation, after the officer identified himself and attempted to apprehend him, the man allegedly used a 20-centimeter glass fragment with which he caused a cut on the palm of his right hand. To substantiate the charge, the Prosecutor's Office mentioned a police procedure report, the victim's complaint, a medical certificate with subsequent evaluation by the Forensic Medical Corps, photographic records from the criminalistics laboratory, and an interview at the prosecutor's office in which the officer confirmed what had happened. The official criminal defense did not object to the filing of charges or the investigation period, while the accused gave a statement, provided his version of the facts, and denied having attacked the police officer or having used a cutting instrument. In turn, the guarantee judge accepted the charges for the crime of 'attack on authority aggravated by minor injuries,' set an investigation period of four months, expiring on August 7, 2026, and ordered precautionary measures.
