Buenos Aires Governor on 'New Songs' for Peronism and Past Mistakes

The Governor of Buenos Aires Province, Axel Kicillof, again spoke of the 'new songs' for the reconstruction of Peronism and called to 'lose as little time as possible in internal disputes,' in a message aimed at La Cámpora and hard Kirchnerism. At the same time, he recalled the failed experience of the Frente de Todos and stated that 'it cannot happen again that an electoral expression is achieved to win elections' and then later have 'difficulties governing.' The provincial head of state made these remarks while leading an event to present the 'University and Science' space of his 'Right to the Future' (MDF) movement, in the auditorium of the University City of the University of Buenos Aires. Among other interventions, the former Economy minister criticized the government of Javier Milei for involving Argentina 'in a war that is not ours' and that 'has nothing to do with the feeling and thinking of Argentines.' 'Many things this government does are at odds with our history, our culture, our identity. It is all very confusing,' he asserted. And he added that 'one could attribute it to the personality or the horror of some of Milei's statements, but we are seeing that it is part of an international club of the far right that has a command and management and speeches that are repeated.' 'We got the worst of all of them, but that place is in dispute, there are several candidates,' he said between laughs. Characterizing the government, he said that beyond the novelty of Milei, the policies are the same as the 'Washington Consensus,' that is, 'classic neoliberalism.' 'Today I met with one who told me that Peronism would be something old. No, what is old and failed is what they are doing,' he affirmed, and received an ovation from the auditorium. When referring to the model of government that his administration has been implementing in the province of Buenos Aires since 2019, Kicillof defined it as a process of 'participatory planning.' 'Argentina cannot have its scientific, university, and intellectual system be alien to the government experience any longer,' he indicated. 'We speak of a participatory planning and we try that the main protagonists of the processes of discussion and evaluation are the workers of each of the ministries and areas of the provincial administration,' he pointed out. Immediately after, Kicillof associated that process of participatory planning with the 'new songs,' that concept that had so irritated Máximo Kirchner and La Cámpora when he first pronounced it in 2023. 'It is an exercise and at a provincial level. In addition, it has cultured exponents.'
