Argentine President Javier Milei to Meet Chilean Counterpart José Antonio Kast

Buenos Aires, April 5 (NA) -- President Javier Milei will receive his Chilean counterpart, José Antonio Kast, at the Casa Rosada from 10:00 this Monday. This will be the first official trip abroad for the Chilean leader since he took office on March 11. The meeting aims to consolidate a political alliance in the region between two presidents who are ideologically close and both hold positions similar to the United States government led by Donald Trump. According to information from the Argentine News Agency, Kast's visit to Argentina reinforces a diplomatic tradition between the two countries: Chilean presidents usually choose Buenos Aires as their first international destination upon assuming office. This was also the case with Gabriel Boric, who visited Buenos Aires just a few weeks after starting his mandate during the presidency of Alberto Fernández. The meeting between Milei and Kast begins a bilateral stage of agreements, leaving behind the tensions that characterized relations between the two governments during Boric's left-wing presidency in Chile. Both Milei and Kast maintain a position in defense of the liberal economic vision and coincide on issues such as immigration, security, and reduction of the state apparatus. They participate in the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).
