Arrest of Driver with Ketamine in Buenos Aires

The Justice of the City of Buenos Aires ordered preventive detention for the truck driver found transporting approximately 600 liters of liquid ketamine in the Caballito neighborhood last Saturday. Judicial sources informed the Argentine News Agency that the measure was taken at the request of the West Flagrancy Unit (UFLA) of the Public Prosecutor's Office of the City and was left in the hands of the Penal, Contravention and Misdemeanor Court No. 19, temporarily in charge of Paula Nuñez Gelvez, who based her decision on existing procedural risks. After resolving the preventive detention of the 39-year-old truck driver, the magistrate also ordered the case file to be forwarded to the federal jurisdiction, which will continue the investigation of the case. The episode began on March 28, when a City police officer detected a traffic congestion on the streets near Avenida Juan Bautista Alberdi at number 500, caused by a Scania truck with Paraguayan license plates parked in double row. According to reports, when the officer repeatedly sounded the siren for the vehicle to clear the traffic, he observed a man getting down from the truck and quickly leaving the place.
